Forking Best Tapas *THE QUAYS REVIEW*

I’ve heard people say ‘Not another bloody Irish bar in Spain.’ But this isn’t just any Irish bar, it has a twist! Irish and Tapas are words I wouldn’t usually associate but they have hit the nail on the head!

Having been here a few times and pretty much tasted the whole menu I have just picked a few of the dishes to review.

I ordered:

– Beef slow cooked in Guinness
– Baked Camembert
– Prawns Pil Pil
– Chicken Goujons

Lets start with the Cheese (My favourite!!!) The Camembert was baked to perfection. Total CHEESE PORN… just oozed and dribbled out the middle as soon as I caressed and fondled it with my fork (Ok sounded sexy until the fork part) You get two big segments, so it’s great value for money.

You only need that caressing fork for the beef too; it just literally tears apart. The flavour and portion size are great. I am not usually a fan of stews as they can be a bit stodgy but I really enjoyed this one. The Guinness flavour is just fab.

The pil-pil is very good and certainly ranks in my top 10 on the Coast. Good portion size and comes with bread to mop up the oil, yum!

I have to give a huge mention to the staff- Ray, Lorna and Pepi. Absolutely fantastic people, who work so hard to ensure everything is just right. Lorna the chef is in there from morning to night and always slow cooking dishes at home. Ray I don’t think ever leaves the place, I am sure he must live there! Thank you for all your hospitality!

The place couldn’t have better views; right on the water. The only small downfall (Duquesa Port in general) is lack of parking in the Summer months. Get more Irish gear on the walls too Ray!!

  1. I too have ate here, and i would agree the portion sizes are great and the food is delicous. I dont venture up that way often but i am a creature of habbit and would definately try their food again id give them a 4.5 forks out of 5 for sure

  2. Good food but takes ages to be cooked. Very friendly bar staff and hats off to one young lady who always presents with a smile

  3. I ate here a few times both solo and with friends and I have to say the food is very good. Service is excellent and portions are ample. The decor is a little clinical and could do with more pics, etc on the walls.
The toilets are always clean however I have to say, the ladies toilet is all over the place with beer kegs stored on top of each other which looks just messy and un-organised.
There were baby seats stored in the toilets which I must say is not very hygenic.
On the good side, the views are beautiful whatever the weather and the bar is away from the upper level so if your looking for a quiet drink, it’s the place to go

  4. Nice small bar. Needs a bit more decor. Food is only OK to be fair. Took a bit long to come out. There are better close by
